Release note
Dense point clouds in Space—PLY, LAS, and LAZ
Optional supplemental point-cloud layers sit alongside the mesh in Space. Operators can host PLY, LAS, and LAZ on the mesh card and review them with a layers dock—including on share via the 3D package.
Reality-capture handoffs often include both a textured mesh and a dense point cloud. Version 2 keeps Space mesh-first while adding an optional supplemental point-cloud layer on the same 3D Model card—so the denser dataset rides with the mission instead of living in a separate tool.
Supported deliverables
- PLY, uncompressed LAS, and LAZ as a single supplemental layer per Space room
- Mesh loads first so navigation stays responsive while the cloud decodes
- Layers dock to toggle mesh and point cloud visibility
- Share delivery through the same 3D package manifest used for mesh assets
Practical limits
Display uses sampled preview and refine passes so large clouds stay workable in the browser. E57, COPC / tiled streaming, multiple supplemental clouds in one room, and point-cloud-only Space (no mesh) remain deferred. Measurement tools on the point cloud stay gated until registration is verified—mesh measurements are covered in a separate note.
